Btw, I've just updated my Up shop with a new program called the "LEVEL UP Scholarship Program"...yay! From now onwards, for every Up shoes sold, Rp.5.000 goes to a scholarship for a low-income child. We now have one scholarship student already, a 12-year-old girl who just started her junior high school (read here). If you know any child who also needs support and has great determination in his or her studies as well, it would be so great if you could also share the information with me so Up can help...:)

I loooove being an entrepreneur, because it allows me to create something from nothing. Business is a fun way to create and build something new, and within the process, we learn so much. I'm sad to see how many entrepreneurs nowadays decide to be one just for the sake of making money. I really think passion should have a greater portion. No matter how small my Up brand is still, I am proud because I am growing it wholeheartedly.

Let's value originality, people. Originality in every aspect. Being inspired is one thing, being original is another. While we learn from other people and we are inspired by them, we should always remind ourselves to not steal, moreover lie. When we're entrepreneurs, it's so easy to steal from each other. But that really is not the whole point. It's about creating something from nothing, remember?

I won't be straightforward here nor will I be blunt. Just have respect and let's not steal other people's creation be it a design, a copy, a brand philosophy, an idea or any other form of intellectual property. Always give credits to those you were inspired by. Real success will only follow the sincere & kindhearted ones.

A reason why having life principles is essential, is so we do not get carried away. As we grow older, as we financially improve and have more access to the many things this world has to offer, it's really easy to get carried away and forget our identity. Have a grip to hold on to and never let this world take over yourself. We're supposed to conquer the world, not the other way around.

Roses Are Blue?

During my meeting today with Daniel Mananta and Mas Adez in preparation for the upcoming Ideafest 2011 conference, I was asked how I became a blogger and actually got heavily known for it. Ha! These type of questions are the most difficult to answer, so are questions like "what are the strategies to have many blog readers" or "how do you keep up with the fact there exist so many bloggers nowadays". I believe I am not the best, or even not at all the right person to answer as I really have no particular answer. I can tell how people are sometimes disappointed by my answer that "there really is no strategy" while they are in fact expecting some list of theories. I really blog for fun! Of course, this is certainly different than other people's perspective especially ones who actually blog professionally, and I have my utmost respect for them. Therefore, such questions are best answered by them, not me. The only thing I can tell, is that I believe in letting things run naturally. I still have the same joy in blogging as much as how I had back in 2007....:)

The Greatest Man On Earth

It's my dad's birthday today, and I pray for him to always be blessed with good health, long age, happiness and kindness. My dad is my most favorite man of all, and nothing beats the feeling of seeing him smile, laugh, sing and make the stupidest jokes. I inherit his looks, his personality, his sense of humor & art, his musicality and also his most random spontaneity. No matter how old I grow, I will always be his little girl and I am proud to be that way. I love you, father...happy birthday! :')

Brains On Fire

Been sneezing like anything today. Sigh. Really hoping to get rid of my flu by tomorrow. So what have I been up to lately? Basically running Up, going to office once a week, preparing my upcoming wedding insya Allah, and searching for a new little house for me and S...:)

I really believe that being positive gives you greater positivity in return. My life has been full of struggles, and no matter how many falls, disappointments and tears I had to go through, I am proud to have always tried my best and let Allah decide. For any of you who is feeling down at the moment, please believe that everything happens for a reason, a reason that we might not understand at this point of time, but is actually the best for our lives. Stay positive and the universe will multiply that positivity for you...:)

Yay To Young Entrepreneurs!

So happy to have been a part of this year's "Youth Startup Icon 2011" competition held by The Markeeters & Markplus...yayness! I (surprisingly) made it into the grand final round yesterday and got into the Top 5... not bad from a total of 70 participants! And oh, I of course represented my shoe line, Up...:)

Winning the 5th place, I walked out of the competition with nothing but a valuable experience, new insights, new friends and new inspirations...alhamdulillah..:)
