Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai pregnant with her first baby. Aishwarya Rai, the Bollywood actress widely recognized for her role in popular movie “Bride & Prejudice”, and her husband, Abhishek BachchanAbhishek Bachchan, 35, are expecting their first child. Speculations regarding her pregnancy took off some weeks ago. On Tuesday, the news of Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy was confirmed by the most famed actor and her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachan, who took to Twitter to make the announcement.

“I am going to become a grandfather … Aishwarya expecting. So happy and thrilled!!!” Bachchan tweeted.

According to sources, Bachchan was aware of Rai’s pregnancy nearly one month ago; however, he decided to keep it secret.

To corroborate, Abhishek hinted at his wife’s pregnancy on June 16 when he tweeted, “Big B on the House! With a “little” support from junior (sic).”

37-year-old Aishwarya Rai, a former Miss World, and actor Abhishek Bachchan got married in 2007. The couple has time and again faced Rai’s pregnancy rumors in the last couple of years.

The pregnancy of Rai was also confirmed by her representative; however, he did not provide additional details.

Ashwarya Rai has appeared in several Bollywood and Hollywood movies and has been featured on the most beautiful lists. In recent times, she has been noted for working in fewer films.

At present, Rai has no movie under progress; however, she has reportedly agreed to star in the film titled “Heroine”. Madhur Bhandarkar, who is set to do the shooting for “Heroine”, was reportedly told about the pregnancy of Rai. He was also told to conclude shooting for the movie within next 45 days, so that the baby bump of Rai does not become visible on screen.

It should be noted that Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are considered a “super couple” in India, their country of residence. The couple also made appearance at the 2011 Oscar ceremony held in Hollywood. The two have appeared together in a number of movies.

Rai has two Filmfare Awards to her name. She made her way into English-speaking cinema in 2004 when she appeared in the hit movie “Bride and Prejudice”. In 2009, she appeared in “Pink Panther II” alongside actor Steve Martin.

Rai took home the crown of Miss World 1994 which paved the way for her into films. She was named as one of “the world’s most beautiful women” by the People magazine.

Despite success in west behind her, Rai has denied that she is permanently shifting to Hollywood. She recently said that she is happy to be in her country.

“I’d be happy to stay in my country,” Rai said in an interview. “But we are gypsies in this industry. You go where work takes you,” she added.
